Philanthropy and Community Service
The Greek Community’s interests and concerns go beyond the confines of campus life. Sororities sponsor a multitude of activities each year to impact the local community and to earn money for their philanthropies or identified causes. Chapters also donate their time to national and local community service projects.
In addition to supporting other chapters’ own philanthropy events, the Panhellenic Council sponsors a number of philanthropies and community service projects throughout the year. Additionally, a blood drive and a community service project are part of Greek Week each Spring.
Many individual sorority members also volunteer in community programs such as Adopt-a-School, Habitat for Humanity, and Kent Community Dinners. The opportunities you will encounter in Greek Life to help benefit the community are endless. The desire and ability to give of yourself is one of the most important qualities you will develop while being part of a sorority.
